ABOUT UGC-HRDC

The UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (UGC-HRDC) (formerly UGC-Academic Staff College) Bangalore University, Bengaluru was established on 11th August 2000 under Ninth Plan period. It was formally inaugurated by Prof. Hari Goutham, Chairman, UGC, New Delhi. The HRDC was earlier located in the heritage building of Old Physics Block at the nationally famous Central College Campus, Bangalore University and has been shifted to new building at Jnana Bharathi Campus recently. Our Centre is also a part of knowledge capital of India and integral part of Bangalore University. The objective of the HRDC is to cater to the needs of the teachers/ principals, research scholars/non-academic staff and to enhance their knowledge/skills through systematic course work and methodologies. Besides, it also focuses on different modes of approach in order to meet the challenges of life, to become not merely a trained professional but also a better citizen.

The HRDC is organizing Orientation programmes and Refresher Courses on thrust areas for in service teachers and also for newly appointed teaching faculty on a regular basis. Besides, the HRDC is conducting Workshops for College Principals, short term programmes for Research Scholars, Non-Academic Staff of the universities, and Interaction Programmes for Post Doctoral Research scholars. The HRDC has so far conducted 65 Orientation / Faculty Induction Programmes and 250 Refresher courses, 15 Short Term Courses / Workshops, 5 Principal Workshops and 10 other workshops in various faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management, Education and Law. So far a total of about 10000 teacher participants and 200 Principals have attended the said courses. Our centre has achieved 17th Position out of 66 HRDCs in India as per the NAAC review during 2012.
